| There are two basic types of cabinet boxes: Framed and Frameless (Also called European Style). With Framed cabinet construction, a 1 ½” wide face frame is added to the front of the cabinet box, while in Frameless cabinet construction, no face frame is added. |

With Frameless cabinets, the door is always made to cover the entire box. |

Frameless Cabinet Construction |
With Framed cabinets, there are a few options for the treatment of doors. |
With partial overlay doors, the door overlaps only a small portion of the face frame, showing 1”. The amount shown is what we call the “reveal”. Partial overlay cabinets are less expensive, as the doors require less material. |

Full Overlay doors are made to cover almost the entire face frame, leaving only ¼” visible. This smaller reveal gives a cleaner look, allowing you to see more of your doors. |

Framed Construction, Inset |
 |
Inset doors are those that fit inside and flush with the face frame. This type of construction provides a more traditional, built in look. Only the most meticulous cabinet companies manufacture inset doors, which must maintain a perfect fit through seasonal, temperature and humidity changes.
